This cake calls for a special mention of my closest and first friend in Dubai-Reena.It was a year back when she encouraged me to start "The Oven Affairs" & entrusted me with my very first Cake order.Today a year though nothing has changed between us & here I am with a cake for her, compiling all her favorites from her Tamil roots. Thean Kuzhal-"Tubes of Honey" is a popular Tamil Diwali snack.Marudhur Gopalan Ramachandran popularly known by the acronym MGR is a cultural icon in Tamil Nadu and is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential actors the Tamil film industry ever produced.Reena holds her father very close to her heart who was always keen on her dressing up in Pattu Paavada & Mullapoo(jasmine flowers).Also, she is an ardent fan of the Tamil Tv channels- KTV & Shalom Tv. A carrot cake layered with Cream cheese & frosted in Ganache, covered in Fondant.The deep purple silk fabric with the traditional Kanchipuram weaving, Thean Kuzhal, a retro poster of MGR, Jasmine flowers have been handcrafted in royal icing, gum paste & edible paints.The tv channel logos have been handpainted.Made for Reena on her birthday as requested by her sister & son-Reeba & Reuben Roy.
